The dream comes true…..for 20 years at least!

Sat here attempting to write in the conservatory which is peaceful until sirens whizz past or a huge lorry shakes the whole place making me jump!

I’m in the process of writing a book about my journey from wanting to join the RAF as a young girl to where I find myself now. I am currently taking exerts from my operational journal and it feels like I am there again. I can almost smell the dust and sweat of Afghanistan all over again. I am currently writing about the time I spent deployed with the RAF Regt on the ground and I must have lost lots of weight because it seemed I hardly ate a thing!! I could perhaps use another month or 2 in the desert as I need to lose a few pounds!

We used to have ration packs and they weren’t the greatest to be fair! Especially for someone with a very fussy taste in food. Hopefully I will soon complete the bulk of the draft and be able to fill it out. Then it will be sent off for proof reading so watch out, I may be asking you!

For a summary of the book watch this clip – it’s only 7 minutes 🙂

About mitsanuk

I left the RAF in 2015 following 20 years as a frontline paramedic. It has been an amazing career but then found myself suffering because of this. My blog exists as an outlet for me as well as a place for others to read and try to understand the mind of someone with PTSD. Please feel free to make comment on any post and lets raise some discussions on how we can help to end the stigma which surrounds mental illness. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please follow and share in the hope my experience will help others.
